SUMMARY:East Coast Ministers’ Conference
DESCRIPTION:Communion With God \n\n\nThe US Ministers’ Conference is an annual event where men gather from a variety of ministerial vocations to worship God and sit under the preaching of his Word. \nThe day before John Owen departed to be with Christ (23 August\, 1683)\, he dictated his last letter to a friend: ‘I am going to him whom my soul has loved\, or rather who has loved me with an everlasting love\, – which is the whole ground of my consolation.’ \nJohn Owen lived for communion with God. He was not alone in understanding that the Christian life was rooted in our union with Christ and nourished by our communion with the triune God. \nThe 2022 Banner of Truth Conference at Elizabethtown will focus on this great theme. The aim of the conference will be to introduce the doctrine of communion with God\, and to explore the rich communion that every believer has with God. Heart religion (John Calvin’s ‘pietas’) is imbedded in\, and is intrinsic to\, Reformed Christianity. Cold Calvinism is the ultimate oxymoron.| \nOur hope is that the conference will inspire all who gather to cultivate further the communion which we enjoy with the Father\, preeminently in his love\, with the Son\, preeminently in his grace\, and with the Holy Spirit preeminently in his comfort.

What better way\, then\, to gather as the Christ-appointed shepherds of his flock and think afresh on what his church actually is and why it matters so much\, not just for his people\, but for the well-being of the world. The church is the epicentre of divine worship here on earth. Indeed\, in Christ\, as we gather each Lord’s Day\, we are actually caught up into the heavenly realms as we offer our sacrifice of praise to God. It is the community in which the saints are equipped for service – the family in which we are spiritually nourished\, shaped and moulded through ministering to ‘one another’ in order that we might minister to the world in all its need. Join with us as we savour afresh the glorious body of Christ.

In response to this spiritual drought\, the ministries of OnePassion and Ligonier are devoted to calling those who stand in pulpits to the high standard of biblical preaching. If we are to see a new reformation in this day\, there must first be a reformation of the pulpit. This is a concentrated training opportunity to be instructed in biblical exposition and preaching.
